There is no other way around it. You can fit just so many people into a phone booth before you need a second.
It's unavoidable so accept it.

It's not an awful idea but a viable solution. It may not be the perfect one eve universe everyone wants, but it would alleviate lag, no?

No, it wouldn't. Because then eventually you might have 30k people on each server, in which case you would still likely end up with 500 v 500 nullsec fights on ~both~ servers, and you have done nothing to relieve the cause in the first place. You would end up with node death on two servers now.
30k people on 2 servers is very unlikely at this point in time. Perhaps 10 years from now...but not now.

Right. And how often have we hit 60k? That's my point. We hit 40k+ every day on just one. Very doubtful it will be the same load X2.
